Kelowna is the easiest weekend in the interior: a lakefront downtown you can walk end to end, dozens of wineries within a half-hour drive, and a beach at the bottom of the street. Three days does the wine, the water and the view.

Day 1 — the waterfront

Walk the waterfront boardwalk from the marina through City Park and Hot Sands Beach, past the Ogopogo statue and the Sails. Spend the afternoon in the Cultural District — breweries, galleries and the farmers’ market — then drive up Knox Mountain for sunset over the lake and the floating bridge.

Day 2 — the wineries

Three clusters, pick two: West Kelowna for the big estates including the bell tower and amphitheatre at Mission Hill; East Kelowna and the South Slopes for smaller family cellars; and the Scenic Sip route through Lake Country to the north, above Wood Lake.

Day 3 — Myra Canyon

The Myra Canyon section of the old Kettle Valley Railway is the best half-day in the region — 18 trestles and 2 tunnels on an easy, flat rail-grade with the whole valley below. Rent bikes at the trailhead, then finish with an afternoon on the beach.
