Beach to beach down the lake — Vernon, Kelowna, Peachland and Penticton
Okanagan Lake runs 135 km down the middle of the valley, and this trip simply follows it — the sandy provincial-park beaches near Vernon, the boat culture of Kelowna, the small-town waterfronts of Peachland and Summerland, and the double-lake summer town of Penticton.

Start at the north end. Kalamalka Lake is the one that goes turquoise in summer — the Rattlesnake Point lookout in the provincial park is the photo everyone takes — while Kin Beach and Ellison Provincial Park cover the Okanagan Lake side.
Kelowna is the lake’s boating capital: Hot Sands Beach in City Park, paddleboard and boat rentals along the waterfront, and the Knox Mountain road for sunset over the whole basin.
The west-shore towns are the underrated stretch — Peachland’s long waterfront promenade and Hardy Falls, then Summerland with Giant’s Head Mountain above it and the Kettle Valley Steam Railway running trestles along the hillside.
The lake ends at Penticton, wedged between Okanagan and Skaha lakes. Float the channel between them on a hot afternoon, then walk the beach promenade in the evening.
Every town on this lake claims the Ogopogo, the lake being of Syilx tradition — you’ll find the statues in Kelowna and Peachland, and the stories everywhere.
