Peak 2 Peak, the Sea to Sky and a car-free alpine village two hours from Vancouver
Whistler is North Americaβs largest ski resort and, in summer, a lake-and-bike town with an alpine gondola network on top of it. Three days covers the Sea to Sky drive in, both mountains via the Peak 2 Peak Gondola, and the lakes and village below.
| Day | Where | Plan | Stay |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Sea to Sky β Whistler | Shannon Falls, Sea to Sky Gondola, Brandywine Falls, village evening | Whistler Village |
| 2 | The mountains | Whistler Village Gondola, Peak 2 Peak, alpine trails, Blackcomb | Whistler Village |
| 3 | Lakes & home | Lost Lake or Alta Lake morning, the Valley Trail, drive back to Vancouver | β |
The Sea to Sky Highway from Vancouver is a headline in its own right. Stop at Shannon Falls, ride the Sea to Sky Gondola at Squamish for the suspension bridge and the Howe Sound view, then Brandywine Falls just before Whistler. Evening in the pedestrian-only Whistler Village.
Up the Whistler Village Gondola, across on the Peak 2 Peak β a record-setting span between the two mountains, with glass-bottom cabins β and back down Blackcomb. In summer the alpine trails up top are open; in winter it is thousands of acres of skiing.
Whistlerβs valley floor is a string of swimmable lakes β Lost Lake, Alta Lake, Green Lake β linked by the paved Valley Trail. Walk or bike a stretch, then drive back down to the coast.
